IC Masters Project Management Portal
Description
This application was developed to facilitate the process of registering Master's projects for students and subsequently assigning them to a supervisor for review. The goal is to assist all parties involved in the process, from students to coordinators and supervisors.
For students, they will be able to register their project and then correct any deficiencies indicated by the coordinators for registration. They will have a form containing all the necessary fields as well as a list of supervisors weighted according to their compatibility with the selected "IC Domains" (giving them priority in the list) and their availability to supervise more students (indicated using a color-coded system). Then, their projects will be validated, and supervisors will be notified sequentially to review the application. Once accepted, they will receive instructions regarding the administrative steps necessary to formalize enrollment at EPFL.
Coordinators will be able to track each application. They can request corrections from students and must validate that the project meets certain criteria. They will also evaluate the selection of supervisors. Their role is to support all parties involved in the process. They will have the ability to send an application back to the review stage for any exceptional modifications needed.
Supervisors will be able to review projects, accept them, reject them, or request additional information from candidates. They will have one week to respond to each application, otherwise, it will pass to the next supervisor, preventing the first from taking any actions.
The application has an email system intended to facilitate communication between the concerned parties when necessary.
A priority system is in place for supervisors. The order in which students select supervisors is important and will be followed sequentially until one of them accepts. Each supervisor has one week to respond, after which the application will be transferred to the next. If none of the 4 selected supervisors respond, the student will have to choose a new group of up to 4 supervisors.
